Apprenticeships are easy to find a job

While university graduates go up and down to find work, at many vocational training institutions, the rate of students finding a job is quite high, up to 80% in some places.

Apprenticeships have more and more advantages because the needs of businesses are increasing
Deputy Director of the Department of Formal Vocational Training, General Department of Vocational Training (Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs) Do Van Giang said that Vietnam is going through a period of golden population and gradually losing the advantage of abundant labor resources. Therefore, developing human resources, especially high-quality human resources, is an important solution for development and integration. In recent years,  enrollment and vocational training have improved, however, the skilled labor force has not yet met the needs of the market. In 2015, vocationally trained workers only reached 38.5%, an increase of 18.5% compared to 2010 but still did not reach the target of 40%.

Former Director of the Institute of Labor and Social Sciences Nguyen Thi Lan Huong said that the labor market is developing according to the requirements of rapidly increasing human resources with professional and technical qualifications. “We have a surplus of university and college graduates, but a shortage of highly skilled human resources. This is a consequence of the stream of learners not based on actual needs from previous years because the training process is always late,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Huong.

Meanwhile, lack of understanding, lack of orientation on choosing majors is still an alarming situation for most students. Incorrect perception of the profession, not knowing what you want makes the choice more difficult. In addition, in our country, there is still an inherent ideology, after graduating from high school, all students want to go to university, not to learn a job. Mr. Do Van Giang cited that, according to statistics, in 2015, about 1 million students graduated from high school, 90% of them took the entrance exam to universities and colleges and only about 10% got vocational training. In fact, the number of students who officially pass into universities is about 60%, but the rest will go on to private universities or colleges instead of vocational training institutions.

Deputy Director General of the General Department of Vocational Training Cao Van Sam shared, “Apprenticeship” has more and more advantages because of its low cost, short training time, and increasing market demand. Currently, enterprises are increasingly using modern production and management technology, so the indirect labor force only accounts for about 5-6%, the rest is direct and trained labor. job creation. According to statistics, the majority of students and graduates have jobs immediately, many establishments have a rate of up to 90%.

Besides, in recent years, the quality of vocational training has been improved. Many vocational training institutions have improved their programs, developed a system of high-quality vocational schools, and actively engaged with the labor market as well as the needs of enterprises in training. When learning a job, students mainly learn to practice skills, so when they graduate from school, most of them have mastered the profession and are easily adaptable to work…
